The J-1 Exchange Visitor Program is governed by the U.S. Department of State, and was created to “promote mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries by means of educational and cultural exchange...” (Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act of 1961).
Dartmouth’s J-1 program allows us to sponsor international visitors coming to campus as visiting researchers, faculty, student interns and specialists, and non-degree students.
