USCIS No Longer Accepting Status Inquiry Requests on F-1 OPT Applications Pending More than 75 Days

USCIS has confirmed that it will no longer accept status inquiries on I-765 applications seeking F-1 Optional Practical Training that have been pending more than 75 days. The agency had previously accepted status inquiries submitted by F-1 students' sponsoring schools. There is no required turnaround time for I-765 processing.

In January 2017, new regulations were implemented that eliminated the 90-day adjudication requirement that had been in place for OPT applications.

For information on current processing times, students can check the USCIS processing times webpage. Select I-765 as the form type, and the Service Center where your application is pending. Most applications are filed with the Potomac Service Center.
