Sponsorship Process

Sponsorship Process and the Form DS-7002 Training Plan

Before you come to Dartmouth, your host department or program will initiate the J-1 sponsorship process with OVIS in the iDartmouth system.

You will receive login credentials to complete a series of forms and upload documents needed to complete the J-1 student intern documentation on your behalf.

OVIS will issue the Form DS-2019 and Form DS-7002 based on information provided by you and by the host department/program and internship supervisor.

You will need these documents to apply for the J-1 visa stamp at the U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country, and before entering the U.S. to come to Dartmouth. Please be sure to sign the Forms DS-2019 and DS-7002 in the appropriate fields, and pay the SEVIS fee. Once you obtain the J-1 visa stamp and enter the U.S., you will complete the check-in process with your OVIS advisor. Your advisor will work with you to schedule an appointment at OVIS.

Evaluations for J-1 Student Interns

The internship supervisor and the J-1 student intern must complete the J-1 student intern evaluation form and submit it to OVIS.

For internships of 6 months or less, one final evaluation is required.

For internships of more than 6 months, midpoint and final evaluations are required.
